husqvarna 460 chain saw just read.I needed a larger saw, and the 460 seemed to fit the bill.
My old husky 350 starts by the third pull, cuts like a champ, and has run without the slightest hint of trouble.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the 460.
This saw selfdestructed within 2 minutes of its initial startup because of an acknowledged manufacturing defectthe wrist pin that joins the piston to the connecting rod fractured, causing the saw to seize.
This fault led to the destruction of an array of other parts, including the piston, cylinder and cylinder head.
Unfortunately, this was only the beginning of my difficulties with the saw and husqvarna.
Husqvarna policy, as stated by both the dealer and customer service at husqvarna forest and garden, requires that defective products be repaired, not replaced even if they break immediately upon first use.
Unfortunately, the parts required to repair my saw are on longterm backorder from the supplier in asia.
The dealer, however, cannot repair the saw because the required parts are unavailable from husqvarna.
At this time, neither husqvarna nor the dealer will return my phone calls, emails or faxes.
It broke before i was able to make a single cut.
Nonetheless, i am unable to secure a replacement saw, refund or repair.
It took threeandahalf months, but the saw has finally been repaired and returned to me.
All of the positive aspects of the saw that led me to its initial purchase are now evident.
It is wellbalanced, almost vibration free, starts easily, and cuts strongly.
